Heartstrings

What's up errybody (and no that was not a typo),

The next time I will update will be next year! Since tomorrow is going to be New Year's Eve. I actually enjoyed this year, it was filled with so many fun events for me. Can't wait to see what the New Year brings me. So this week's drama was a little bit of a disappointment, in my opinion, but I will still continue with the review for it. This week's drama is................

Heartstrings (a.k.a You've fallen for me)

A lot of people have said that this drama is basically for those who wanted to see a relationship between the characters acted by Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa that wasn't established in the drama You're Beautiful. I also think that it was one of the reasons why I ended up seeing it too. I also though it was funny how in this drama his name was Lee Shin but in You're Beautiful his name was Shin Woo, see any similarity hahaha.

Story Line:
Lee Shin is a university student majoring in modern music. He is also the vocalist and guitarist of the band "The Stupid." Shin is known for his good looks and strong passion for music, but in reality he is cold, lacks interest in anything unrelated to music and has neither dreams nor plans for the future. Lee Kyu Won is a bright and outgoing student who was born into a prestigious family and is majoring in traditional Korean instruments, especially the gayageum. Trying to live up to her grandfather's expectations, Kyu Won immerses herself in training and becomes a university student who knows nothing outside of her studies. As her friends are fans of "The Stupid", she was forced to go to the band's concert with them. There she saw Lee Shin performing live, and is immediately captivated by him.

Cast:
Jung Yong Hwa as Lee Shin
Park Shin Hye as Lee Kyu Won
Song Chang Ui as Kim Suk Hyun
So Yi Hyun as Jung Yoon Soo

all the information on cast and story line are thanks to: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/You've_Fallen_for_Me

Romance: 5
Honestly, if you're looking for a like a romantic drama, this one might not be the drama for you. I get that it's supposed to be more of an innocent love type of deal, but geez I think Lee Shin kissed her like 3 times throughout the whole drama and each time Lee Kyu Won looked so shocked. Although it was a bit too innocent, they still had their cute couple moments, like when Lee Shin waited for her and to give her a ride on his bike, and he even made the seat comfortable for her, or when he sang to her and announced to everyone that they're dating.

Humor: 6
The comedic parts were mostly caused by the other characters in this drama, like the drummer from Lee Shin's band, he was like the goofy, sweet, innocent guy. There was one scene with Lee Shin though that I thought was hilarious, it was when he took Kyu Won to the museum on a date sort of and he coincidentally tied his shoes next to this painting

Action:  0
There wasn't really any big fighting scenes. A punch was thrown, I think once or twice in this drama but nothing major really.

Serious:  6
The serious moments in this drama were really sad. Like how Lee Shin's father died and how he had to cope with it, since he had never known who his father was before. It was also sad when he injured his hand and he needed surgery but he didn't want to hold back Kyu Won back so he ended up breaking up with her, even though it hurt him too.

Hotness:  7
I think I just gave him this rating because of fact that he was in You're Beautiful. He wasn't as hot in this one and I think maybe it had to do with the fact that in this drama he had to act more arrogant and his character in You're Beautiful was more of an adult and dare I say manly.

Ending:  6.5
The ending was pretty good, I was glad that they got back together and this is the first drama I've seen where they ended in song. It was also okay because all the other side characters also got their happy ending. It wasn't an amazing ending, but it wasn't that bad either.

My overall rating for this drama is..........................

7

I gave it a seven because although there were some aspects of the drama were a bit disappointing, it was still good overall. I liked the major conflict they had in the drama, and I liked how the actors portrayed their characters too. I wouldn't say it was one of my favorites, but I liked watching it.

You're Beautiful

What is up everyone!

As you can see, I am writing this on 12/22/12 , which is supposed to be the day after the world was "going to end". So I guess then that makes me a survivor (sorry if this offends anyone that actually believed it would happen). Anyways, I have had the worst week. So it seems that I caught a cold (thanks to my mom), and have been sneezing, coughing and sniffling for the past 4 days, but I'm happy to say that I've been getting a lot better, especially since Christmas is around the corner. Getting back to why anyone is wanting to read this, time for my drama review, this week's drama is.....

                                                       You're Beautiful

Story Line: The management company of the idol group A.N.JELL insisted on adding a new singer to the group as the lead vocal, Tae Kyung's voice was hurting. However, the new member, Mi Nam, had to go to the States to repair a botched eye job just before signing the contract. His agent came up with the idea of having his twin sister, Mi Nyu,to stand in for him and pretend that she was her brother. The two of them grew up in an orphanage and Mi Nyu, who was all set to become a nun, agreed to this charade as she didn't want to spoil her brother's chance of fame which would make it easier to look for their mother. Tae Kyung discovers that Mi Nam is a girl and threatens to reveal it, but later decides to keep it a secret. As Mi Nyu starts living with the band she starts having feelings toward Tae Kyung, and he later on realizes the feelings he has towards Mi Nyu.

Cast:
Jang Geun Suk as Hwang Tae Kyung
Park Shin Hye as Go Mi Nam (Male) / Go Mi Nyeo (Female)
Jung Yong Hwa as Kang Shin Woo
Lee Hong Ki as Kang On Yu / Jeremy
Kim In Kwon as Ma Hoon Yi (Mi Nam's manager)
Uee as Yoo He Yi

Info on story line and cast are thanks to: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/You're_Beautiful

Romance: 7
Although there wasn't so much romance in the drama there was conflict with the main male and female lead, that would give you signs about their developing feelings, like when Mi Nyu got kissed my Tae Kyung, you could actually see the fireworks she felt afterwards, literally. As you watch the drama, you already get the idea that no matter what happens, Mi Nyu and Tae Kyung are going to end up together, and even though I knew that the drama always had these moments where I wish I could change the ending just to see what would've happened. For example when Shin Woo was following (not in a stalker kind of way) Mi Nyu when she was dressed as a girl, around the town, while talking to her on the phone, almost like they were hanging out together but she never knew that, and in the end when he wanted her to see him, she ended up leaving. I felt so bad for him, I just wanted to cry. Another example would be when Jeremy finds out that Mi Nyu is in love with Tae Kyung, and he actually starts crying, but in the end although it was hard for him he accepts it.

Humor: 8
I loved the comedic moments in this drama. I loved how in the beginning Jeremy thought he was turning gay because he started liking Mi Nam (Actually Mi Nyu dressed as her brother) more than just a friend. I also thought the love triangle fan fiction (Fan fictions are stories that fans make where they use their favorite celebrities as characters in a fiction story) scene was hilarious. I really did like the humor they put in this drama, I would actually laugh for a good 5 min, then show these scenes to my sisters.
To see love triangle fan fiction scene (really funny) watch below:

Action: 2
I think the only action there really was in this drama (well that I can recall) was when Tae Kyung ran away from the wild pig that was chasing him.

Serious: 5
I think it's sad that Tae Kyung's mom didn't really love him. I did start freaking out though when I thought that Tae Kyung's mom was also going to be Mi Nyu's mom, because I was like "eww if thats true then that means they're like half siblings, and they like-like each other.". I thought it was sad when she found out that her parents died, especially since she was really hoping that she could find them, I mean I know she did find her aunt, but I always felt like her aunt just wanted to be with her to show her off to her friends and try to mooch off of her.

Hotness: 9
Living in a house with 3 cute guys? Sign me up! I never considered Jeremy as "hot" really, when I think about Jeremy, I always think cute, funny, and sweet. I did think Shin Woo was hot when he had a disguise which consisted of a grayish suite, fedora hat, and glasses, I guess because he looked so mature. When it comes to Tae Kyung, well he's not really my type, I mean he is handsome in some episodes, I just dont like how his semi long hair is put up most of the time, so yeah.

Ending: 7.5
I gave the ending this rating because, I loved how Tae Kyung sang that song to Mi Nyu at a concert, and basically declaring his love for her in front of everyone. The part I didn't really like is how now that they know their true feelings for each other, Mi Nyu has to go to Africa -_____- , I was like "really?!? after everything you're actually leaving?!?".

The overall rating I would give this drama would be...........

                                                                                   7
I thought this was a pretty reasonable score for this drama. I liked the actors, and the how they portrayed their characters. I liked the comedic as well as the slight romantic scenes. The overall drama was pretty good, I think the only thing I would have wanted to change would be the fact that Park Shin Hye played the part of Mi Nyu and her brother Mi Nam (since they're supposed to be twins). When they finally presented Mi Nam in the drama I thought it looked pretty cheesy and fake, I mean I know its probably hard to find korean twin actors but they still could've looked for someone to play Mi Nam that looked a little like Park Shin Hye, but hey not everything can go my way. That's it for today, have an awesome day.

p.s Lee Hong Ki, the guy that plays Jeremy is actually in a band called FTIsland, I recommend listening to some of their songs especially "I Wish" (one of my favorites)

Playful Kiss

Hey guys, how's it going??

Soooooo..... I know I'm really late on my post, since I was supposed to post this last week, I've just been super busy lately. Well I guess I do at least owe you some sort of explanation. You see, believe it or not, but I'm in a dance group (I won't get into details yet about what kind of dance and stuff just yet, I'll probably save all the extra info about myself in a new post in the future), we've done about 5 performances, since last week to today. So with the practices, performances, and the fact that my internet wasn't working all last week, you can see why this post was delayed. Well now that you know, let's get started and focus on some KDrama. So last week's Kdrama was going to be......................

                                                               Playful Kiss

Story Line:
Oh Ha Ni is a sweet lively and happy high school student yet she is definitely not the sharpest crayon in the box. She has a crush on Baek Seung Jo, the smartest boy in school despite being chased loyally by Bong Joon Gu herself. When she confesses to Seung Jo through a letter, he brings it back to her, after grading it harshly and commenting that he hates stupid girls. When Oh Ha Ni's new house suddenly collapses her father's friend offers for him and Ha Ni to stay with them. Unknown to Ha Ni, her father's friend is actually Baek Seung Jo's dad. As they continue to live under the same roof and attend Parang University together, Ha Ni continues to show affection for Seung Jo although he seems to be more interested in the equally clever and beautiful Yoon Hae Ra. Following Ha Ni's many efforts, Seung Jo finally falls for her in a romantic and protective way. The drama continues to show the young couple marry and go on to a pretty disasterous honeymoon.

Cast:
Jung So Min as Oh Ha Ni
Kim Hyun Joong as Baek Seung Jo
Lee Tae Sung as Bong Joon Gu
Lee Si Young as Yoon He Ra
Hong Yoon Hwa as Jung Joo Ri (Ha Ni's friend)
Yoon Seung Ah as Dok Go Min Ah (Ha Ni's friend)

All the information on the story line and cast are thanks to: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Mischievous_Kiss

Romance: 7.5
I think this drama did deserve this score in romance because Baek Seung Jo was always too serious for the romance aspect to get farther. I mean I also get that he was like that because, well that's the personality of the character. I do give him a compliment in a way because his character's personality was so mature and serious, his actions would be unpredictable and whenever he would do something sweet to Oh Ha Ni, it would surprise you and make it that much cuter, because you know that in his own weird way, he does care about her. Favorite romantic scene from the whole drama would have to be, Seung Jo and Ha Ni's kiss in the rain when he finally lets her know that he cares about her.

Humor:  8
Well I though this drama was pretty funny, especially when they lived together of course. One of my favorite scenes that I still remember to this day, is the scene where Oh Ha Ni has an encounter with a flasher (a guy/girl who flashes his/her naked body to people) and Baek Seung Jo saves her. I also liked how in the end of each episode they would take a picture of a reenactment of a certain scene but would replace the actors with teddy bears like this..

Action:  2
There wasn't that much action, since this was a more romantic comedy type of drama, I still gave it a two since it did have some scenes with fighting and stuff, but it never got too extreme.

Serious:  5
The score for serious is just based on certain episodes that happen later on in the drama, like when Seung Jo's dad gets really sick, so he has to take over his job. I felt so sad because he was so stressed out about the job and at the same time, he was scared that his dad was going to get worse if he didn't help him.

Hotness:  10
I bet you can guess why I gave hotness a 10! Of course, because Kim Hyun Joong is freakin cute. I mean don't get me wrong, I will always be a Lee Min Ho fan all the way, but ever since I saw Kim Hyun Joong in Boys Over Flowers, I have always thought there was a cute sweet side to him.

Ending:  8
I gave this ending a 8, which is pretty good in my books. I liked the ending because it actually showed their wedding, and honeymoon. I thought wedding and honeymoon scenes were hilarious and cute. I honestly liked how they ended it, because it showed how their relationship got better when they were finally married.

Now for the overall score on this drama...................................................
                                                                                    8
I think this is a fair overall score for this drama. I did love the actors (especially Kim Hyun Joong), and I love the romance between the main couple and the comedy that happened around Bong Joon Gu. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a funny drama, the romance does take a while for it to become mutual but in my opinion, I think its worth the wait while you're watching the drama.

Well I will be posting this week's review in the next few days, hopefully it won't be delayed like this one. Hope everyone has a wonderful day, and thanks for reading.

City Hunter

Hey guys and gals, it's been a while! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, I know I did. I was soo  full from all the great food, yet I still had room for dessert. I know it's almost been 2 weeks since I last posted but I've been a bit busy, and my sister kept hogging the computer. Well anyways, back to what you're here for. This week's drama rating will be about.......... City Hunter!!

Yes, I watched this drama and I bet you can tell why. If you've read my last two posts you can tell that there's a similarity those two and this one. They all have the smokin Lee Min Ho.

Story Line:
The story takes place in Seoul, 2011. Lee Yoon Sung is a talented MIT-graduate who works on the international communications team in the Blue House. He plans revenge on five politicians who caused his father's death with his surrogate father Lee Jin Pyo and eventually becomes a "City Hunter."

Cast:
Lee Min Ho- Lee Yoon Sung / John Lee / Poo Chai
Park Min Young- Kim Na Na
Lee Joon Hyuk- Kim Young Joo
Kim Sang Joong- Lee Jin Pyo / Steve Lee
Kim Sang Ho- Bae Shik Joong / Bae Man Deok

Alright, time for the ratings for this kdrama.

Romance: 6
I gave this drama a 6 because there wasn't as much romance as I would've wanted. I mean I get that it's supposed to be more action, and that Lee Yoon Sung didn't want to get close to Kim Na Na in order to protect her, but I still wish their relationship progressed more. I did like Yoon Sung in the beginning though when he was falling for Na Na, the things he would do to get her attention were so cute.

Humor: 4
There isn't supposed to be so much humor in this drama since it's supposed to be more serious. It probably had some funny moments her and there but it was very limited. It would have been nice if there was a few more but then it probably wouldn't have been as sad and dramatic. My favorite funny moments though, were when Na Na and Yoon Sung lived together for a short while.

Action: 10
Of course I had to give City Hunter a 10 in action, how could I not. This drama was filled with explosions, gun shots, and awesome fighting. I actually liked watching Yoon Sung go all into spy mode when he was about to get revenge on his victim. The way they made his fighting skills look amazing made him look like such a badass. I think every girl has a weakness for bad boys and here is a perfect example of it. I liked how all the scenes that involved action actually looked real, you wouldn't be able to tell if it was special effects or something.

Serious: 9
This drama got a rating of 9 because it was basically about revenge, and revenge is no laughing matter when it came to Yoon Sung. Some of these moments were really sad to me, like when Yoon Sung's dad dies. There was one scene though I practically cried, and that was when Young Joo was killed. I felt like it sucked so much for his ex girlfriend, since right before he left and died, they finally made up and decided to be together again.

Hotness: 10
Well since I am a Lee Min Ho fan, I just had to give him a 10, but there was also another cute male that caught my eye, which was of course Young Joo the prosecutor. Both of these guys are really good looking, and they have awesome fighting skills.

Ending: 6
Well I fell that the ending to this drama was a bit disappointing. I mean I was glad that the main female and male lead didn't die, but the ending left me with questions like most kdramas do. I know he can't be with her because she "deserves better", but she should've been able to decide that. I didn't like how the drama ended off with them just staring at each other. It made me wonder "So, where is Kim Na Na going and are they never gonna be together or what?".

Well my overall rating for this drama is......................
                                                                                    7
As I watched the drama I would lose interest sometimes. I think it's just me though, I'm kind of more into dramas that are romantic comedies. This drama did have it's moments where you just wanted to find out what happened next and the reveal of a secret that changes everything in the end, really surprised me. I liked the drama, but I don't think it would be in my top 5.

Well thanks for taking the time to read. I hope these ratings help you decide what drama you might want to try reading next. Don't forget sending me your own recommendations are always welcome, or if you want me to rate a drama, just put it in a comment. Till next time,
                                                                                                                        -KDL-
